Malaysian Students Empowered Through K10 SKYE Program in Thailand: A Cultural and Educational Journey
Kolej Sepuluh, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized the K10 Skills and Knowledge Youth Empowerment (K10 SKYE) program in Thailand from February 29 to March 13, 2024, focusing on academic exchange, idea sharing, discussions, and collaboration with various institutions such as Prince Songkla University (PSU), Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM), Rai Sukphoang Farm, CP Meiji factory, and Sornsasanasatsanu Patham School. Volunteer work and cultural exchange activities with Muslim communities were also included. Hazimah Amani Kamalul Arifin, the program director, highlighted the importance of industry training opportunities offered by PIM and CP Meiji, emphasizing the program's success in forming international connections. The program received sponsorship from companies and agencies such as Ieja Food, Kopetro Food, Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara (JKKN), MyFundAction, Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia, Suria Catering and MedinFragnance. Participants engaged in agricultural activities at Rai Sukphoang Farm and volunteered with local Islamic communities during Ramadan. The program facilitated interactions with schools like Sornsasanasatsanu Patham School, promoting the use of English and encouraging students to pursue education at UPM. Shahrul Danish Sharif bin Shahrim, a participant, expressed gratitude for the unique cultural experiences and the opportunity to strengthen relationships within the team. The participants cherished the memories created during the program, reflecting on the challenges and successes.
